I shoot a 25 wssm, it runs a 115 gr ballistic tip at right at 3000 fps, I have tried every shot, every angle possible. double shoulder, quartering away, broadside, frontal, I have yet to recover a bullet.

257 Wby kills deer and elk like lightening. Definitely load it down and enjoy. It will reach a lot further than 200 yards.

I shoot 100 gr. Barnes TTSX bullets for deer hunting at 3500 fps and have had great results. I would not hesitate to any of the factory ammo that used 100 gr or heavier bullets as they will all work very well for killing deer.

I have the original Vanguard in 257 Weatherby. I use 69.5 grains of H1000. 115 grain TSX. Overall length 3.171". I got it .75" groups @ 100 yards. Paid 300 for the rifle.

If that grouped well, I'd never look back.

Congratulations on your rifle. I reload for all my rifles. However, I bought my Dad a .257 Weatherby Vanguard for Xmas a few years ago. He doesn't reload. Most of the White-Tail Deer we shoot are less than 100 yards. That being said the factory Weatherby load featuring the 120 gr. Nosler Partition does the job just fine. You don't have to worry about reloading to load velocity down. You will do just fine with this load. My Dad's rifle shoots over 3200 fps on my chronograph with this load & he hasn't had any trouble putting deer down whether shot in the lungs or drilled straight thru the front shoulders. Enjoy your rifle! The only drawback on the .257 Weatherby is the cost of ammo for a non-reloader!

Yeah. Very much agree. Haven't put anything down with it personally but my brother has in Wyoming at distances near 200 yards.
