1000 and 1500 yard club
A buddy and I are thinking that may be our goal for summer. Join VHA and get into the 1000 and 1500 yard clubs. He's thinking about a 6-284 with a 105 and I'll stick to my 22-243 ack or 243 ack for the 1000 yarder. It's the 1500 and possibly 2000 I'm not sure what to use. 7 rum with a 200gr maybe, or a 338...what would you do? This may end up on a TV show too.

At RUM velocities the 200 wildcat will make 1500, not sure about 2000 without a 40 moa base and a nightforce . a 338 lapua AI 300 gr. will make 2 miles with the right scope and mounts. Good luck on your venture

You know the company/show I'm talking about so their cameras are probably more then their rifles. But I know my handheld Canon works great out to half a mile. You gotta look for 25x plus Optical zoom, digital zoom means beans. Stick with a Canon too. I think I paid about $200 for mine.

I'll probably end up sticking with what I have out to 1500. I think my buddy is gonna build a heavy gun so I'll probably end up using it too. I don't know if I'll end up having the time to fly out and do it with them, he gets paid to shoot stuff lol

Wish I had that problem!
What bullet are you pitching from the 22-243? My gut tells me to be itchy about a 1,000yrd coyote, let alone 1,500yrd coyote, with a 22cal, no matter what the speed. I'm sure it can be done, especially if you're looking at heavy for cal projectiles 75-90grn ballpark, but I'd sure be looking for a bit more bullet weight to do the job on the back end.
I've always wished that VHA site would link the submission pics and some details about the rigs, rounds, and shots to the names in the long range clubs. If you missed the issue, you missed the details.
