Default Luepold question.

I have a rookie question from a veteran hunter. When I bought my new 257 Roberts It had a Nikon Buckmaster scope on for thier display. I didn,t want the Buckmaster because I didn' t like the one I had. The optics were clear but the eye relief was very critical and I could never find the target. I had them put a Luepold vx1 3x9 scope on it which was about the same price. Now my question. At 9X at say 25 to 40 yards The picture is a little fuzzy. Do I still need to do some more focusing or will it be a little blurry at close range on the high power. I should know this but I have never had that problem with my other brands of scopes. With them if the were in focus at any range, they would be focused at all ranges. I had a 10x bushnell that was a little blurry up close but it was a straight 10x. The luepold is focused at all ranges past 40 yards on all powers. Thanks.

James B,

Look on the the end of the Leupold, eyepiece end, there should be a lock nut loosen it up. Point the scope up at the sky, should be a clear day, and turn the eyepiece end of the scope this will bring the crosshairs into better focus.
The directions on doing this should have come with your scope, that is what I had to do with some of my Leupolds. LOL, NBH.

I got the crosshairs in very good focus I just have to turn it down to about 6x at close range. I can live with that.

James B,

I checked my Leupold Vari-x II 3-9x50 at 9x, Leupold Vari-x III 2.5x8x30 at 8x and they are both a little fuzzy at 30 yards. I would have to say that this is normal that the scopes were not meant to be set this high at this close range. When I say a little fuzzy I mean I can' t read the print on the target the blue diamonds on the target I use is in good focus. If you think your Leupold is not right call them.

It' s normal for things to be a little fuzzy at high magnification at close range. Every 3-9x I have looked through does the same thing.
