Default the kickinest gun I have ever owned....

Couldn' t wait to shoot my new gun today. I just got a stoeger condor through a trade with my bro in law. This is a very pretty gun, great feel, and it just feels like it wants to knock down some doves for me next Saturday morning. When I got home from work I took a box of 7/8 oz dove loads and a bunch of bbq briquets and headed down to the deer camp to try out my new baby. Having never shot an over/under before I wasn' t too sure what to expect. What I didn' t expect was to get the crap kicked out of me.....with light loads! I feel like the gun fits me pretty well, but for some reason that thing works me over pretty good. My shoulder looks like somebody took a whip to it after 25 shots. The two guns that I do most of my shooting with are a browning bps and my new favorite, my benelli nova....so I am used to the recoil of a kicking gun, but was not prepared for the abuse that I got today. That thing is going to look great in my gun cabinet for a long time!

Try getting a mercury recoil reducer for it. The make ones specifically designed for over/under shotguns that fit in the chamber of one barrel like a snapcap. A lot of guys use this type at the trap range, and the beauty of it is that it can simply be removed if you want to use the second barrel without any hassle. I have a 5oz Hg recoil reducer in the buttstock of my BPS and it really takes the edge off the recoil. I put mine in because I shoot a lot of trap and I' ll go through a minimum of 100 shells of 1 1/8oz #8 target loads (call me a brute for punishment, but I like putting a LOT of shot down range). I have been known to shoot as much as 8 rounds of trap (200 shells) in an afternoon, and I never go home with a sore shoulder.

Mine was a Ruger NO 1 in 416 Rem Mag. However I expected that. Other than that every 7MM Rem Mag I ever had (about 6), Kicked the hell out of me I hate those damn things worse than skipping hunting season. My 338' s don' t hurt as bad as those 7 Mags.

I have to agree with whelen36, my Mossberg 500 (synthetic stock) with 3.5 mags kicks my _ss and after just a few shots I' m done. I have a few friends that wont even shoot it after they seen my lips just about jump up to my eyeballs

I' ve shot 3 1/2 inche goose loads, 3" rifled slugs and to many trap loads to count. For my shoulder, nothing, I repeat nothing has kicked as hard as my .338 win mag!!!!!!!
