Default 7mm-08

Is the 7mm-08 a reliable cartridge for hunting Elk and Mule deer using 140gr Nosler Partitions? Any thoughts would be appreciated....

7mm-08 would be fine for mule deer, might be a bit light for elk.I think it would depend on how far of a shot and shot placement.

With a 150-160gr bullet, you' re fine for elk within 200 yards. With a 140gr bullet, you' re perfect for deer at all reasonable ranges.

I feel it is a good cartridge for thin skinned game. Good luck.

I am looking at this exact cartridge. Think it is awesome. If you are not a magnum freek like some. You will be quite happy. This cartridge according to balistics charts I have looked at will do anything a .270 will do. withing a few pounds all the way out to 500 yds. So anything within 250 yds will be just fine for elk. I would believe.
