Default WTB First Hunting Rifle

Ok. So I've been looking at a few different rifle models and think ive narrowed it down. I'be been looking at the Marlin 30/30, Savage 99, and Remington .270. I'm a southpaw which is part of the reason why I've been looking at brushguns. I live mear nashville and most of the hunting areas are fairly wooded. My question is I would like to know your opinions. I know the brushguns are less accurate but im probably not going to he taking any shots over 200 yds. If you have the savage or marlin to get rid of let me know the price. The remington has gotta be a lefty though.

Thanks guys,

Obvious Noob

You might also look at the Remington 760 or 7600. They are a pump action so it could work for a lefty. I had a few of these in different calibers. Good guns for what you are looking to do with it.

Yea I went to the store and just missed one! $300 with a nice scope on it. I will admit I am a sucker for the look of the lever not that it should matter Haha. I was also looking into the Browning blrs. I guess the savages and blrs are lever actions that allow pointed instead of rounded loads. Maybe better accuracy?

It should make it more accurate over distance, being that the pointed bullet will have less wind resistance and not drop as fast as the round bullet.

If you are shooting short a Marlin 30 30 will handle all of your needs. Easy to strip and clean, accurate and effective.
