Default H&R 12 Gauge Pardner Pump & Mossberg Maverick?

Was going to get one of these guns for turkey season. Was wondering if any of you have any experiences with either gun.

I know they are a lower line gun, but that's whats in my budget for now.

Thanks.

Either one will do the job.

Pick the one that "feels/fits" you better.

It's your hunting skills that will make the difference !!!

I've had the opportunity to try a Maverick 88, and I gotta say I liked it. No frills, simple and streight forward firearm, essentially a hunk of metal designed to hold and fire shotgun shells, which is something I can appreciate. As for the H & R Pardner I haven't gotten my hands on one but I've heard from others that they're even simpler than the 88, and most reviews I've seen for it mention the ease of maintenance thanks to fewer moving parts. This is something I always look for in a PD/HD weapon, because simplicity = reliability. But I'm a bit put off by the aesthetics of the Pardner...it just looks wobbly? Maybe I'm picky. They both seem like great firearms for the cost. I've included links to reviews for each on youtube.

Maverick Arms 88 Special Purpose

H & R Pardner Pump

Good luck!

I would imagine the Mossberg 500 would be similarly priced, and there should be many used ones available. I had my 500 for quite a few years, shoot turkeys with it every season. Never had a problem with it.

I had an 88 and shot several turkeys with it. Nothing fancy by any means, but it does its job well for the money.

Thanks for the replies so far. Sounds like either one will do.
