Default new 2012 rifles... way to screw it up winchester!

so I checkout winchester's website, and see 2 new "alaskan" models and get real excited! only to find out they totally blew it...

less they're soon to be releasing a real "alaskan" model

they have 2 new models...

the alaskan... wood/blue, 25" barrel?? wtf? better than 26" but c'mon 22-24" is what we need!

the alaskan stainless, laminate/stainless(shiny), c'mon synthetic please.... and 25" barrel again, 24" max on .375H&H IMO. also shiny/gloss stainless/polished? no thanks, at least bead blasted, or coated...

essentially they need to release the extreme weather SS in 375H&H with a 24" heavy barrel.

how is this hard to figure out?
when they do, I'm buying a 375h&h winchester!

Whats the big deal really as far as barrel length goes? Most all large mags need at least 24" min to burn all that powder.

I would agree with this, also if it is the weight you are worried about in the extra inch of the barrel, wanting a bull barrel is NOT going to help.

I prefer a short barrel, but I don't shoot long range either. If the range is 200 yards or less and you have an adequate caliber, no animal is going to notice a difference between a 20" or a 24" barrel.

if case size remains the same, as bore goes up, barrel length can be shortened.

ie a 375h&h, needs less barrel length than a .300 win.mag/wby etc...

ie just like a .243win should have a longer barrel than a .308win.

I believe they say the 375H&H only needs 22"

IMO 22-24" is perfect for the 375H&H

essentially they just need to put out their safari model in stainless/synthetic.

and they released 2 new guns that are pretty useless IMO, at least in 375 they are... they offer some other cartridges too.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is foaming at the mouth for a syn/stlss version of the safari model in 375H&H, and while at it probably 416rem too, ie the true "alaskan"

No they aren't.

FNH owns both Browning and Winchester.

FNH is building the model 70's. Not Browning.
