Default Inconsistent trigger pull

I recently purchased a Browning A-bolt 30-06 and topped it with a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 scope (nice scope, but not awesome). The trigger is set near the lightest pull, however, about 1/3 of the time it requires about twice the normal pull to release. Have used two different trigger lubes to no avail. Anyone else had this problem?

My Rem 600 did that when I adjusted it under 28 oz (after spring change). It'd go down to 20 and not trip even with a good bonk in various directions (safety on or off, or after flip- screw CNBC).

But it'd go 20, 20, 22 then 32 oz then back to 20. About one in every 8 pulls or so it'd get double heavy.

I just added a little weight back and it went consitent after that, at 28 oz.

If your trigger is of similar design it might just need a little more weight adjusted back.

If you are not familiar with that trigger system and correct adjustment/mod then please take it to somebody who is. I have seen too many folks who don't know WTH they are doing. In fact my little 600 was adjusted unsafe, and so was a Model 7 I snagged cheap. Nice folks, but idiots, and exactly the type that fuels liberal television programs...............

Jacol,
You are only one small spring away from trigger nirvana!

I, just recently, found myself in the same boat you are now in. I had a Browning A bolt Hunter with a creepy/stiff trigger, however, I purchased a Basix spring kit, installed it myself (in ten mins or less), and walked away a happy man. A small screwdriver and a small diameter punch/drift is all you need; easy! Nothing complicated: 1/2 star on a 5 star scale. It now has a two pound pull; awesome! They aren't cheap; $18.25 which included shipping. Google=browning a bolt basix spring kit
