I don't know if it's that big of a deal or not. You could shoot a few heavy waterfowl loads 3in. or 3 1/2. Heck the first loads I put through my last new auto were 3in. turkey loads. The thing has been flawless with trap loads all the way to 3 1/2in. Waterfowl loads. I broke it in with turkey loads because that happen to be the first hunting season I needed it for.
