.308" diameter bullets or .308 winchester chambering?

The mini-30 is chambered for 7.62x39 not .308 winchester
The 7400 is ok, but if you were wanting one, I' d buy one used- just about any gun shop that sells used rifles will have a full rack of them- they are good enough for big game hunting to moderate ranges, but not much else.

If you want an accurate and consistant autoloader, I' d get the Browning BAR.

Browning B.A.R. or an Armalite AR-10T

Stay away from the Remington 742& 7400' s.Go to the Firearm Review forum. You' ll read enough there to change your mind about the Remington' s. If you want a excellent Semi Auto spend extra money and buy a Browning BAR.You won' t be sorry.

stay away from the remington jam " O" matic it is a piece of junk. i woned one for 4 months. felt like an extension of my arm but that was about it. shot 6" groups at 100yds trying several brands and grains. plus it became a 1 shot rifle.

the only semi to buy that won' t break your wallet, shoot great ! and not jam.

BROWNING BAR. i would go with the safari just because it is a steel reciever. i own one in 30-06sprg and get 2" groups with 180gr. rem core-lokt' s. shooting standing. not bad for a semi

I have a 7400 and use it for sentimental reasons. I have used it for over 15 years, but really wish I had a BAR again. The POI will change with a 7400 due to the forearm screw tightness. Bad design. I have never had but on jam on the 7400. That doesn' t bother me too much, but that forearm screw thing does. Every year right before rifle season, I have to go to the range and sight in and not take apart until after the season is over or the POI will change.

If you have to have one, I got one I will sell ya.
