Default Nosler Custom cartridges with the Accubond bullet.

Hi. Anyone have much experience with Nosler cartridges with the Accubond bullet? I'm considering trying them out with my 6.5x55.

I have found that the accubond bullet doesn't expand much on game. It kind of pencils through. Very accurate though.

well it is designed for controlled expansion and what 70% weight retention?

I think federal tends to load accubonds hotter than the nosler loads.

I don't understand the "penciling through" I've killed 30 deer with accubonds, they don't expand like a cup/core bullet but they do expand, in the pic below the .284, 160 gr accubond impacted the deer at just about 2400 fps, and you can see the exit hole, any faster than that and you should get the same results, I've had some expansion at 1600 fps impact velocities, every accubond except one has left an exit like this, ranges were from 307 to 1350 yards, so on average shots expansion will be adequate, the deer below was shot at 702 yards.

I use accubonds in an '06. Small sample size of 6 but all have penetrated completely with impressive wound channels and exit holes about the size of a quarter. Ranges were from 60 - 250 yards with 5 being broadsize and one quartering toward me. The bullet on the quartering shot hit her (doe) just in front of the right shoulder and exited about 6 inches in front of the left hind qtr. Accuracy is superb.
