Default What shotgun to go with?

I'm new to the hunting community. I'll be hunting for turkey this April in East Texas.
I'm looking to buy a 12 gauge but don't know what I want.
I want something I can use to also hunt Dove, Duck and Quail.
Some questions I have:

Brand?
Pump or Semi?
Scope?
Cross Hairs or Red Dot?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Depends on what you want to spend, for turkey I like the Mossberg 835 abd it will not kill your wallet, others to think about is the Remington 870, Browning BPS, Benelli Nova, and a few others. These are all pumps with a 3.5" chamber

being that you're just starting i would suggest an 870 because that way if things don't pan out then you aren't out of a lot of money, plus it's reliable and if you do continue hunting you can always upgrade. As for a scope i would say no, being that turkey would be the only thing you'd use it for and you don't even need a scope for that. Good luck

I would have to agree also. The 870 would be a good starter gun without forking out a lot of money.

+1 on the 870 there great shooters real reliable very reasonable not bulky (like a mosberg) there just the best pumpgun on the market and I've tried probobly 12 different pumps and the 870 is what I always stay with. There great

Mossberg 500, 535, or 835

sorry, not a Remington guy. But Mossbergs, Rem's, Winchesters, etc-they will all get the job done. Just put some to your shoulder and see which feels the best. The way it feels in your hand should be the determining factor.

Semi-autos are nice, but a pump will do you for turkeys. There's not usually a follow-up shot.

I agree to skip the scope. There are many fiber optic rifle sights that will serve you well. And a 3" chamber will do for you I'm sure. I have a 3 1/2" gun but I shoot 3" Hevi-13's out of mine with an aftermarket choke (Indian Creek) and I get a lethal pattern at 50 yards.

Go look at shotguns and I'm sure something will jump out at you.

IMO

Look for a used Beretta 390 or 391. Well balanced, soft shooting autos that don't weigh a ton when you are quail hunting and are easy to clean.

You don't need a 3 1/2" mag to kill a turkey, duck, or goose.

YMMV

870. As someone mentioned before you don't need a 3.5" to kill a turkey, duck, or goose, but in certain situations it could mean the difference between a clean kill or a wounded bird that runs off to die and you are unable to retrieve it. You will be extremely happy with an 870.
