Default Absolute must read for wheel gun owners

I saw on mythbusters, where a revolver can absolutely cut off a finger from the gases escaping between the wheel and the barrel.
i think they were sayin a 460 and the 500's ..large hunting caliber revolver pistols

My Ruger Super Redhawk has ruined a couple of leather bags from using them as a rest when bench shooting

I don't put much faith into the "Mythbusters"...

I don't either, but they are close to being correct with the 460. My 460 cut my brother's hand open. And has ruined two shooting bags.

When I gook a handgun safety course about 10yrs ago, during the live fire portion, the instructor pointed out the danger of the B/C (Barrel/Cylinder) gap by strapping a raw bone-in chicken breast to the side of a .44mag revolver and firing a round...

The escaping gases cut the chicken pretty severely... I have NO doubt that the damage could fully sever a guy's finger...

If anyone doubts this, they should try it and post a picture of their hand. Just think about it, there is enough gas to propel a bullet from 0 to 1000+ fps in only a few inches, while leaking out from the cylinder gap at the same time.

If some one is stupid enough to put their finger in front of the cylinder of a revolver then they deserve to get their finger cut off. They shouldn't need mythbusters to confirm this.
