IS it just me or is the "gun control" we were all promised or well in our cases, threatened with slow coming.
I remember the, We WILL REINSTATE THE ASSAULT WEAPON BAN
I figured little would come out of this admin for the first four years, but I honestly figured the AWB would come back
THough I am glad and not trying to give obama a reason but dam kind of funny, maybe they realize we will not stand for it.

Not that it reflects my own personal beliefs, but the buzz around the bench at one of the ranges I frequent is thus:
"Of course Obama didn't reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB), his plan is to distract us all by screwing up the healthcare system while he gathers up all of the assault weapons for sale and forwards them to his terrorist buddies! If he banned them, then HE couldn't get them either!"
It's laughable, but that's the scuttlebutt amongst the natives. Personally, I think they didn't reinstate the ban because they would have needed statistical proof to back their case, and there was no proof DURING the ban that violent crimes involving "assault weapons" were reduced, and there was no proof FOLLOWING the ban that the crimes increased. Prior to the first ban, there WAS evidence that assault weapons were used in violent crimes (and continues to be), and there were instances (like the LA bank robbery) where poorly outfitted LE agencies couldn't match firepower with bad guys, however, there was never any indesputable evidence that the ban reduced crime rates with assault weapons, and modern LE agencies are all outfit with their OWN assault weapons, so the falsified rationalization for the ban that was present the first time around is no longer valid.
Funny and scary, a sleeper cell in the white house, god help us all. i would guess your second half is on the mark, though I think they would make up the numbers, just like saying we would be living in a water world in 20 years, I remember as a kid they said in 10 years we would no longer have half of florida, NYC and it would be 100 in chicago year round, well 10 years and and I am moving to key laro so guess someone got it wrong.

I think when you consider everything else that this administration has done to our country I'd say its a miracle he hasn't touched gun control. In chicago they past a new law saying that if you have not had so many hours of instruction time by a certified instructor at a certified range then you can't get a license for a gun. The kicker is that there are no civilian ranges so the only people who can get licensed are cops.
Make no mistake though, they're comin for 'em. It just won't be as easy with the republicans controlling congress.
