Default Optima Elite forend lug loose

I bought a CVA Optima Elite combo awhile back. The lug on the ML barrel is welded in place, but the .270 barrel has a lug that slides into a slot in the barrel, and then tightened in place with a set screw. The first couple of times that I shot it I noticed that the forend was a bit loose, but it wasn't until I got to looking close that I realized the whole lug was sliding around. I can't get it tight enough to stay attached to the barrel. I cut a small piece of an aluminum can to use as a shim, but I'm scared that being lodged in there will affect my accuracy.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you remedy it?

I contacted Ken at CVA yesterday, and he's either going to send me a new lug to try or have me send the barrel in to them. I hate to do that, because I have my scope mounted on it.
