Default rem 22 goldtips duds

last range trip I took my ruger 96/22 with as waiting gun between shot of my muzzleloader.

took rem goldtips as the ammo. 37 out 60 round where duds. on top of that. about 10or more had an bulge at the base after firing. making hard to cycle the bolt.

any one, had problems with these rounds?

Yes I have but never with those kinds of odds. My guess is moisture got to the powder or some other explanation. Way too high a failure rate.

I recall reading more than once that they were unanimously some of the worst 22 lr ammo you could get. I have one of those boxes of 550 pcs. and I know that many of them do not fire on the first strike in a couple different guns.

that was the first strike odds, just as bad of odds on second strike. 19 out of the 37 would not go off the second time.
did not push it anymore.

Remington seems to have the most issues with 22LR. CCI seams to have the best ignition of the powder.

Yep, Remington ammo is pretty horrible. I've not had much luck with anything Remington made in the last 5 years, but their .22 ammo is really horrible.

Maybe the firing pin on my Ruger 10/22 is a little longer or strikes a little harder. I usually have less than 10 non-fires out of a box of 550.

Those boxes are really going up in price. It's no longer so cheap to shoot the old .22LR.
