Well....................I guess you did get lucky ! LOL, but I didn't mean that way.

Holy SHOOT - you know what I mean.

Either one (.300 Win Mag always good) would be great !

Those Ruger's are built like tanks (Sheridan's not Sherman's). LOL

It's it Christmas already ?!?!?

Poor huh ???

Congratulations my friend !!!

When you say you are on a budget..... what is the budget?

Knowing what the Stevens cost I am assuming about $300 - $400 for the rifle. I would look at the Marlin XL7 before the Stevens. Though the Marlin isn't available in a .300 mag.

I've seen quite a few used Remingtons and Winchesters locally for under $450 and some under $400.

Oh....and by the way, I've owned at least three of them so the local "ya gotta have one" Nazi will allow me to post about them....

Personally, I'd prefer a used Remmy or M-70 over anything mentioned so far in this thread......just my "sperience"

If your budget allows, spend more time with the T/C Venture. They have a 1 MOA guarantee - and shoot much better than that - and a fairly decent trigger. It's a well made rifle and also made in the USA. I have seen quite a few at the public range, and they are very accurate with factory ammo.
