25-06

How many have a 25-06, and what bullet do you use, and with what kind of reults.

(on whitetails)........I have a Remington sendero, reload Nosler 115gr. ballistic tips
Very accurate and so far (knock on wood) has been pure poison on deer, all have dropped in there tracks.

i use factory loaded hornady light magnum ammo , a 117 gr. BTSP interlock bullet , i shoot a savage m111 w/a synthetic stock , i don' t see any great improvement in the light mags but , the rifle sure is accurate but, it' s a bolt action savage never had a chance to use her on any deer though , my whelen usually gets the nod [>:]



i forgot to mention that my groups at 100 yrds. are 1 3/8 " to 1 3/4" ' s , i don' t get to shoot her too often though so at least i think those are good groups [&:][&:]

I have one in a Win. 70 classic .. leupold 4x14x50 .. fed. 100 gr barnes x .. Works well but you need to hit bone to expand the x bullets ...Bill

I just had to have a 25-06 when they first came out. I needed a left hand bolt which no body made at that time in that caliber. I bought a new left hand Remmington 700 in 270 and sent it off to E. R. Shaw to have it rebarreled to the new quarterbore. I loaded up some 120 grain bullets and took it out for its first deer hunt. BOY WAS I EVER DISAPPOINTED. The first bullets out for the 25-06 were a disaster. The either blew up on contact or punched 1/4 inch holes through things with no damage at all. A year later I pawned it off on a guy who just had so have a left hand 25-06. Well times changed and Nosler and Barnes answered the call and now most everyone makes good bullets for the 25-06. I will pick up another soon as it is a very good rifle. I do have two quarter bores. The 250-3000 Savage and the 257 Roberts.

my first deer rifle was a 25. i have tried 117 grain fed bt boattail and was not impressed. next i tried win. 120 grain positive expanding, they worked really well on the deer in ne missouri.then i struck gold with the nitrex 120 grain grandslam... but they no longer make them i assume. so i went back to win and started using their 115 grain ballistic silver tip. overall groups can be covered with a quarter at 100 yards out of both my dads rem 700 adl' s.


for smaller critters try the 75 grain ballistic tips you' ll be impresed!!!

I have the Ruger model 77 stainless with comp stock . So far I have been using the XBT 100 gr Barnes bullets and have taken five deer with it ,all one shot drop in thier tracks . In my opinion its a great deer round .

I have a Rugar #1 25-06 and shoot federal 117 gr..............Awesome gun.

3rd for the barnes 100 gr xbt... occasionally one of the petals will break of, but they are one tough bullet.
