wife wants to know what for anniversary-1911

I told her a new 1911 .45 I sold my last one 4 years ago, would like another. Are the new remingtons any good? What would be a good 1911 in the $600 range or less.

Just thought I would let you know Bart Skelton had an article on the Remington 1911 R1 in the June issue of Shooting Times. I think he was shooting a prototype. There was a couple minor ejection issues and a small issue with creep in the trigger. However it sounds like they kinda of worked themselves once the gun was broke in. Hopefully you can find the article, but I think he basically said it was good gun for the money $699. A gun for your anniversary! Your a lucky man! I will be buying my wife another diamond ring for my anniversary. I bought a couple new guns this past year and told her I wouldn't buy another until she got another ring. What was I thinking???

Here's another vote for the Taurus 1911. Very good gun even though it is less expensive than many 1911s.
