It really depends on what you want the MP15-22 for.
If you want it as a trainer for your AR, then it should be set up the same or as close to it as you can. I’ve set mine up similar to my Colt 6920, with a forward mounted dot sight, VFG, and an Insight M3 light. The .22 is also lighter, so I added some weight to the PG and the VFG.
That way you get the most out of your time spent with the MP15-22. If you just want a plinker, then all bets are off and set it up anyway you want to.
Bigbulls is correct, the forearm on the MP15-22 is an integral part of the upper, the best you can do is swap out the rail covers to match what you want. So far mine’s been very reliable, and more accurate than my Colt with a Spikes conversion unit due to the S&W having the proper twist rate for a .22 as compared to the 1-7 on my Colt.
