Default Savage 220 F

Thinking about ordering this 20 ga. slug gun. Anyone have one and any reports. All the reviews are good and people getting great patterns out to 200 yards with it.

I read a ton of reviews etc...all were good etc...and for the money it's probably the best, though in person it felt like what it was.....a $400 gun or whatever....ie it was okay/decent. Looked pretty good, but felt well like a $400 gun. I really don't understand why bolts have to be so sloppy feeling, less you spending $3k on a nice one? I've yet to find a factory made bolt that was awesome, a nice one means its ok...can't we reduce tolerances on this junk??

There is a good article in this months Shooting Times about the 220f.
I would suggest you put on only a one piece base. Warne makes a great long action tactical base made for the savage 220f and any other rifle with the accutrigger.
Remington accutips has been the most accurate out of my 220f but federal tipped expanders also are very accurate.

I've heard of ejection problems with the 220, I love my H&R Ultra Deluxe in 20ga

Shells do not hang up with the two pc base but you will either have trouble with eye relief or you will have problems mounting the scope if its not long enough.
I have tried the two pc base and I just could not make it work to my satisfaction even with the leupold VXII 3X9x40.
