I have been told that a 12ga 870 Remington slug barrel will fit a 12ga Simth & Wesson model 1000. Does anyone out there know if this is true or false? Thanks,earlly

I don't know for sure but I doubt very seriously it will. It might be worth a call to S&W.If I remember right the early S&W shotgun were made by Eastfield.Eastfield could tell you if they even exist anymore.
I went to dogpile.com and seached EASTFIELD GUNS. You might want to check it out. One guy had a model 916 come apart. I know yours is a M-1000.
