savage 110 30-06 Springfield or the marlin XL7? which one would be a better deal? (price is a factor for this college student) i could really use the help to narrow it down to one of them, thanks in advance!:happy0001:

I can only claim experience with the Savage, and my 111 7mmRM works great. It gets the "pass" vote from me.....

I personally haven't handled the Marlin yet so I can't really speak to that, they have had good write ups and I have heard nothing but good when people rate them. The Savage is tried and true, with a reputation for out of the box accuracy.

You already heard it !

But, if you save some money based on your choice of rifle; put it towards a "better" scope.

Hope this helps

If you have the money buy the Savage and you will most likely be happier down the road. The Marlin is a good gun for the money if you choose that. I would just say you are picking from two winners either way since both are good values.

You should be happy with either one. They are both accurate and a good value for the money.

" there both good " probly doesnt help you, but if you want to customize your gun in the feature than get the savage.

How much are they?? I heard(did not see) SportsMans Warehouse was runnig a sale on the Remington 700 ADL's with a synthetic stock for $350?? I would have to go with the Remington unless the other two were substantialy cheaper.

Double check that price because I am passing on second hand information. And you know what that may be worth.

However I did have a friend who just bought two Remington 243's with the 700 action with a Cabela's scope and bases and rings from Cabela's for $435 a piece. They both had camo stocks. But I do not know what model# they were. But they were 700 actions. Our local Cabela's store ran a sale(Wheeling). The stocks were a little flimsy, but not as bad as the Savage stock I took off my Model 12 FVSS.

I do not know what major retailers are in your area. But keep your eyes open. I am sure there will be a lot of good sales pretty soon. Things are getting pretty tough out there. Tom.
