Default Savage M-40 22 Hornet

Hey Guys,

I spend most of my time on the Black Powder forum. But Sunday morning I had a short range session with my favorite single shot cartridge rifle - a Savage Model 40, 22 Hornet.

I figured if any of you guys are thinking about a short range (200 yard) varmint rifle that's not real loud, you may be interested in my results.

The gun's favorit bullet is the 40 grain Hornady V-MAX loaded over Hodgdon LIL`GUN powder.

The first two targets are at 100 yards. The third one is 150 yards and the fourth one is 200 yards.

Here's a picture for you DeerandbearhoG. The scope is a very inexpensive (pronounced "cheap") Simmons 4x16 PrairieMaster I got on sale from Natchez Shooters Supply a few years ago. It has served me quite well.
