50 yards is about the limit for usefulness. Even high speed 22LR like stingers drop like a rock past that. I know when I squirrel hunt with my 22LR, I usually sight it in at 35yards. That way I got a good head shot sight.

+1.I usually do about the same. One exception though I have an old Remington 540 X that I keep set up @ 25 meters. It has the williams sights (Peeps) .I use it when me and the buds go to the range .Even at my age I can still shoot with them boys with their big ass scopes......LOL

Im with BC on this one, I do a lot of squirrel hunting and sight my .22s in at 25 or 30 yards. I have made shots out to 65-70 yards but not on the first try. The majority of my rats are shot at 20 yards or so.

Depends what you are hunting and what ranges you're likely to get a shot at.

For most purposes, 40 or 50 yards is a good compromise.

If you are squirrel or rabbit hunting in thick stuff and usually take head shots, I'd sight it in at 30 yards.

For groundhog hunting, I always sighted it in at 75 yards.

Depends on what range it's to be used at most. Having a bunch makes it easier. Each has it's specific purpose so each is sighted for it's intended range of usage.

I sight my P22 in at 15 yards. Most shots on coons are point blank or 20 yards.
