Default Remington trigger

I have a Remington Model 5, .22 LR, purchased new approx 2 years ago. Gun is an accurate shooter, but the trigger pull is horrible. I have no way to measure what it is exactly, but it's far more than 2 1/2 to 4 lbs and almost grates as it is pulled back to fire. Lots of creep and it feels like it's never going to fire. I am reasonably mechanically inclined and have done several small jobs on my guns from time to time. Would this be a reasonable home repair or would you all reccomend a qualified gunsmith do a trigger job on it? I know adjusting the trigger pull on some rifles is not a real tricky complicated thing, but Iv'e not done a trigger adjustment before so thought I'd get some advice---thanks--John

From what guys on other forums are sayin it is an adjustable single stage trigger, look at rimfirecentral.com's remington forum and at gunhuntermag.com for a picture. Sorry I dont know how to post links.
