Default T/C Icon

I looked @ this rifle in Bass Pro the other day. I thought it was a decent rifle.

Anyone own one? What's your opinion of it? Compared to a Rem700 or Browning X-bolt how does it stack up?

I too was looking at them. They seemed pretty decent. I especially liked the milled receiver slots for a solid scope mount. If the weathershield is as good as claimed, it would also be beneficial. They are suppose to be good shooters...a very stable design.

I dont know how good of a gun they are as I havent shot one but I will say they are terribly overpriced. Someone has to pay for the fact that everybody thats ever had a hunting show on tv or made videos has probably got one for free.

Talking sweet shooter

i have an icon classic walnut stock 270 cal. & shoot rem. core lok 130 gr. psp's. the first 3 shots after bore sighting were a 3/4" group at 100 yds. i had it zero'd in after 12 shots, all within 1' groups. this rifle is very well balanced, smooth action, and an easily adjustable trigger. there are other places that have lower prices than bass pro. when i purchased mine t/c had a $150 rebate program. i am very pleased with mine, hence my user name!

The Icon is the best production rifle on the market right now. TC looked at all the actions ever developed and designed a new one that combined all the best features. The boys at TC didn't stop there, they developed a better bedding system and put match grade barrel with the R5 rifling. These are great rifles. Handle very well, great trigger a lot of really nice features, hands down better than the new 700's. I may be a little bias, but I've shot both guns and handled them and the Icon is one of the best rifles to come out in a long time.

Or he has both rifles & is giving his honest opinion.I've owned 2 Rem. 700's & have been very happy with both my rifles. But I have to admit the Icon seemed to be finished a bit nicer. It also had a few features that I liked.........intergrated scope mount, choice of bolt handle.

Just to clear things up, I don't work for either company, but I do work where I get to handle many different guns from all makers. It's a rough job I know! I've owned several 700's and hunted with them for many years. If I was to go buy a new rifle right now, it would be the Icon though without question. Just a really well made rifle. Am I going to trade all my 700's in for Icons, no. He ask for an opinion, and that's what I gave him.
