Anybody run one? I was browsing the Savage line and they have a Varminter in .223 with a 1/7 twist...thinking rechamber to a .220 Swift and run some 80-90gr bullets outta her...

A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
Also, the .223 is a short action and the swift requires a standard action, I believe.. I don't think what you propose is practical, and perhaps not even possible..
If you want a swift you'd be ahead keeping your eyes peeled for one on one of the online gun auctions..
I thought some bolt face alterations may be needed...not sure about the length though, Ill check into it. Maybe a 22-250 AI would be better...Im just wondering, prolly wont actually do it...

The swift is an awesome round.. I have seen that bullet do things to a 3/4" piece of steel that you would not believe. It will flat slice thru that steel and look like it came out of both sides of the steel.. Also had a cousin drop a buck at 300 yards with his..

JK....I've got a Swift. Long tang Ruger 77V. Had it for years. That gun came close to putting me over the edge. One night 1/4" groups, the next night the same exact load in the same brass would shoot +1". Happened time after time. Powders, bullets, primers, all the same frustrating stuff. If I remember right, though, I think it was Dan in Alaska who used to post on here that had the same trouble and finally solved it, but I never wrote down his mix.
.......By the same token, one of the guys that shoots at the range has a 22-250AI and that girl can dance. For whatever it's worth..........

My tang safety Ruger 7mm Rem mag is pretty much the same...one day shoots great the other who knows what she's gonna do! I read that action bolt torque is the biggest problem with them, so I re-torque it how they said but haven't had a chance to test it yet...
