Basic, simple, and handy. I see no reason why it wouldn't be a great starter rifle. I could see the triggers being something less desirable. I'm a ruger no 1 fan they don't have the greatest triggers but the have constant pull that I'm particularly fond of in my shooting habits. Get used to the trigger and don't worry about it I always say.

The most accurate .243 I have ever owned and the least expensive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I'd stay away from rimless rds.I have a 30-30 that shoots one hole on a normal day and MOA on a bad day.I'm after H+R to make one in .303 British with an extra .410 barrel.Ruger is making their 1A in .303 British...................Harold
