Default Does anyone make a semi auto similar to the Savage model 10's?

I've got a few friends with Savage model 10's. To me they are just a great feeling gun. Balance great, light, handle great, fit perfect. I just really like them all around. The one thing I don't like about them is I don't like that they are bolt actions. I'm a big semi auto fan when it comes to hunting rifles. After handing one of those though my BAR feels like I'm hauling around a ton of bricks in the field. Are there any semi auto hunting rifles out there similar in weight and handling to the Savage model 10's?

Savage 10 is a bolt action.Hold a few semi autos and see what ''fits'' best.

Try the Browning Short Trac Stalker. It should feel a lot lighter & livelier in your hands.

You basically have three choices in semi auto rifles.

Browning BAR - either safari style or short/long track
Remington 750
AR type rifles.

You could also try to find a Benelli R1. The ones I've handled all offer very good ergonomics. They are as ugly as the south side of a northbound horse, though... unless Euro-Trash styling is your thing. Try the BAR Short Trac. The aluminum alloy receiver makes it somewhat lighter than the all steel Safari grade, and it's only mildly Euro-trashed in its style.

But if you like the Savage Model 10 so much, why not just stick with the bolt action. I've never felt like I couldn't get off a fast enough follow-up with mine, but maybe that has a lot to do with the fact that I mostly hunt with a muzzleloader... and that I never shoot at running deer.

You might try finding a used Winchester Model 100. Slightly more pleasant to look at.

Just curious though... If the Savage Model 10 feels so good to you, why not get one of those? After all, isn't the goal "one shot, one kill"? I'd go with what fits right and feels right.

TO me I see no reason to buy semi unless it is an Ar type rifle.
