Default Does anyone else shoot a 338-06???

I think my wife may have bought me a Cooper rifle chambered in 338-06 for Christmas?
Does anyone else shoot this round?

What can you guys tell me about this round?

You "think" your wife may have bought this rifle. This is no off the shelf rifle, I could see it if you said a 12 gauge 870, but a Cooper .338-06. So what makes you think she bought it, something must have tipped you off? I don't own one but it looks like an awesome caliber, I'm not a fan of magnum rounds so if you want something a little larger and with a little more energy than a .30 caliber, this should work great. I hope that you handload.

As Centaur 1 stated, that's not an off the shelf rifle. The 338-06 is a great round, but it's not something you'll easily find in local gun shops. You can find it on line though. I believe A-Square and weatherby produce ammo for it. Be prepared to pay between $60-$70 for a box of 20. If you reload, you'll have a great selection of bullets to work with.

My wife did not buy me the Cooper 338-06.

She asked me what I wanted for Christmas & I told her a Cooper chambered in 338-06. I caught her coming out of the local gun store that sells Coopers, they did not have one in stock. She does know her guns & she did not want to try and locate one on short notice.
I reload so factory ammo is not a factor.
Looks like I will be buying one after taxes are filed.
