Default safe for 800 bucks.

What safe brand would you guys recommend for 800 bucks i could do 1000 if need be. I want a good amont of space but for 800to 1000 fireproofing would be nice to. Would liek atleast 18 gun safe. Maybe a 15/30 or what ever one side guns one side shelfs. Gander has a few around that price but there normaly higher on stuff so i figured you guys might know a ok brand in that price range that will give me some fireproofing and enough space.

I recently purchased a Cannon safe from the Tractor Supply Company. It is in your price range and holds 36 guns - although if you have scopes on your rifles you certainly wouldn't get that many to fit. I have been pleased with it. It has an electronic lock and a 30 minute fire rating. They were running a $200 off sale on them last week if you have a TSC in your area.

Personally, instead of buying a safe...I bought a rider for my homeowners insurance.

My homeowners insurance covered guns up to $3,500 with no rider. I bought an additional $6,500 in insurance and the cost was only $70 per year. So now I have $10k in gun insurance and I don't have a god awful looking safe sitting around my house.

I still keep them locked in a cabinet...for my kids sake...but if they are stolen, I have them all recorded on video and picture with their serial numbers and information in a safety deposit box.

Safes are great...I just don't want one.

Insurance is great but not only do I not want to have my gun taken from me...I don't want some a-hole enjoying my hard earned guns. Money cannot replace what most of them mean to me so all the insurance in the world doesn't take care of the issue for me.

As far as "god awful looking" I have a black Browning Medallion safe and its anything but...

To each their own though.

lol rather have insurance lol...

i would definitely make sure it had a good burn rating...basically how long would it take to burn down the area it is in ... so a lil shop, 30 minutes..in your bedroom, better go fer the hour one....i dont just put my guns in it, my ol lady even keeps my balls in there lol

i would shop craigslist...always someone tryin to get rid of them. and 1/2 price usually....i did see one with a light inside it at gander mountain, and a light is always nice, but way to pricey for me.

Ya i looked at the cannons. Tractor supply had them on sale. 1299 for 899. 899 for 699. The 899 one was huge and real nice. It had 2 110 outlets in it and might have had a light.
