Default Benelli R1 rifle

I have always been a bolt action synthetic stainless guy but I also love Benelli firearms. When I saw an advertisment for the R1 in the MAY American Hunter NRA magazine, I became really tempted. I realize that this rifle will get a lot of postings here in early fall once people who buy these early start posting there feedback.

By any chance has anyone read more about the R1 and could let me know what source they read about it?

I know I' m opening a can of worms by saying that I' m conflicted between buying the Tikka T3 and the Benelli R1 both in 300 MAG.

on gun tests. they went head to head with a browning safari $749.00 and the benneli R1 ( whatever the price ) both in 30-06sprg. the browning one hands down on all of their tests. the benneli had bigger groups at 100yds than the safari.

www.guntests.com

good article on it.

Quilly,
If what Guntests.com reports is accurate... I may have saved $350-400 between the R1 and the Tikka.

How reliable of a source is guntests.com? I' m not saying it isn' t a good source but I always want to get as many solid sources as possible before opening the wallet on a new firearm.

Save your money Mathewconquest and buy the browning.....Benelli shotguns are high quality and this rifle probably is also nver having seen one except in print. It would have to be a seriously accurate rifle to beat a semi-auto that shoots as well or better than a lot of bolt action rifles out there. If you buy a BAR play around with a couple of different ones until you find one with a good trigger(they tend to vary) you' ll be set.

mathewsconquest..

i don' t blame you. i like to find out several sources on something that i am thinking on buying before i actually do so. but as far as gun tests go. they sppek highly on two of my guns i have and shoot just as good as they talk about. i also thought that the browning would save you some money. they have been around for some time so they have " worked the bugs out " compared to a new rifle from a known shotgun maker.
