Default Colt Proof Marks

I have just purchased a Colt Officers Model Target in .22 cal. Below the serial number, as viewed when opening the cylinder, is a proof mark that resembles a pair of crossed sabers with the points facing up. The serial puts the revolver in the early '40s and I can't find anything that tells me what this proof might represent. Can anyone help?
