I am thinking the 270 would be a good caliber to look into. i have a 30-30 which i love for Whitetail deer, but need a little more distance for some other game.

.277 cal (270 win) is a great deer cartridge. as it .308 (308, 30-06). actually, suitable calibers are too numerous to list. i'd say get a 270 win.

Zrex took care of it. My favorite crossover cartridge would be the 25-06. Probably the most popular would be the 243. The 24 and 25 cals are great on deer and also have lighter bullets for varmints.

I hunt with a 270 and 243. Highly recommend both although 243 is more of what is sounds like you're looking for.

many good calibers. 270, 30.06, 243... but one of my all time favorites is the 7mm-08. What a round for deer!!!!! low recoil, plenty of power. i am just wondering how this caliber didn't take off more than it did.
