Default lever versus bolt

question. I am looking for a new lead slinger. looking to shoot 150-600 yards. with that being said, ive only killed at 300 yards with a deer moving. but id like to engage in some dog killing.
so im a browning guy.
i have used a abolt for 20 years.
but i love the lever action.
browning makes the blr that has a locking system simular to a abolt.
question is, are they the same accuracy as a bolt?

I have experience with exactly one BLR. A .308 that my BIL got six months ago. While I don't consider it a 600 yd. rifle, it is a very nice 300 yd. rifle and worked quite well on a nice antelope buck at that range.

Answer = no this particular lever rifle is not as accurate as the average bolt rifle I own. It is however far more accurate than the lever rifles I own (Model 94, 336) Generally lever rifles have thinner more rounded foreends. This is not condusive to excllent bench shooting. They often have barrel bands, again not a great bench shooting idea.

In general a bolt action is said to be more accurate than lever action because of the fact that it does infact have fewer moving parts. Don't know about the brownings. I do know that unless you're 1. military trained or constantly shooting off a bench its may be difficult getting any rifle to produce good groups at 600 yds.

600 yards is a long way.. So I would go with a bolt with a really good trigger on it..

k. with the browing though they use a clip for this model. so it feeds like a bolt. bolts are kinda boring.

I've never been a lever fan. I prefer pump actions if I'm not going with a bolt or semi.

It is not the feed or the clips that makes bolt actions more accurate.. Its the one piece stock and the option for a better trigger..

I agree with most of the above...all things considered there is not much difference between the two out to 300 yards on big game however when you went to 600 yards things changed totally..lots of variable including the ability of the shooter him/herself.. the trigger has alot to do with it and I've never really found a sweet one any lever gun in my old memory.. you'd almost have to go with a bolt from 300-600. how about one of the new AR Big Game clones out there..there's just too many variables with those yardages you mentioned...out west I'd more than likely have to go with a great bolt and in the east most of us never fire a shot while hunting much past 100 yards... I like the Browning A-bolt stainless stalker because of the short throw bolt and the CLIP.. almost everyone makes a clipped bolt these days...what about some the new Marlin lever lusion ammo and stainless lever guns, maybe someone has experiences with those triggers...

id call it a clip on a swivel. i guess i just think when a bullet is slammed tight in the chamber tight is tight. so then the shot should be pretty accurate. so question, how do those sharps buffalo guys shoot 800 yards and hi there target with open sights?
