lazz's stuff uses a .001 undersize bullet thats electro-plated with a gliding metal coating, this is what he chrony's with, nobody has ever been able to match his velocity claims, nobody that I know would buy ammo at 7.50 per shot, my 7mm AM will drive a 160 nosler at 3700 with run of the mil components.

If building a custom is an option I would suggest a 30 Allen Extreme, its sort of a 30/338 lapua AI, built by Kirby Allen of Fort Shaw Montana, the mans rifles are a cut above anything else I own and I have several customs by the bigger named makers, I've talked to 20 other guys shooting kirbys rifles that are having the same results
Here is 2 shots at 660 yards, returning the scope to a 100 yard zero after each shot

RR, what can you tell me about the 7mm AM? I am mostly interested in a 30 or 338cal, but I am a big fan of 7mm bullets and might have to look into that.

30-378 is cool, so is a 300RUM, But if your going custom Go 300 Tomahawk, 300 RUM Improved, take some taper out of the case put a 35 degree shoulder on it and then stuff it with a whole bunch of powder topped of with a 240 grain SMK goin 2900fps and hold on!! Why because it's really cool and kills anything you want really far away. Stickin with a factory gun I guess it really doesn't matter one way or the other if money isn't a concern. Both are accurate and ballistically close. Whichever you prefer or think you'll be the most happy with is what you should get. Non-Weatherby fans bash Weatherbys and Weatherby fans bash everything but Weatherbys. I like them all!!

Its a .338 Lapua necked down to 7mm then case taper removed and shoulder punched out...ackley style...

Do you just size, trim, and fireform?

well kirby forms cases or you can work up your own with bushing neck dies. It has a H2o case capacity of 122 gr and its shorter than the 7mm STW. the rifle shoots in the .2's on a regular basis and I.ve taken deer to well beyond 1000 yards, switch to the 180 berger or even better the 200 gr wildcat bullet and it will easily take deer at 1 mile (1760 yards).
I have around a dozen custom rifles, this one despite the capacity of this beheamoth .284 cartridge is easily the most consistant least temperamental rifle I've ever had in my hands.

I think that if I were looking for a big boomer, my first choice would be a .338 EDGE. It's a 300 RUM straight necked up to .338cal, versus the .338 RUM which Rem set the shoulder back to keep dummies from trying to cram a 300 RUM into a 338 RUM. Anyway, the 338 EDGE (aka 338-300 RUM), has a few more grains capacity, very close to the 338 Lapua Mag, without the super wide case and larger than standard mag bolt face. It'd be sporting a 28" tube with a Holland/Defensive Edge style brake. It'd be my "privacy" rifle... because one shot would cause everybody else at the range to leave, giving me my privacy!

You got that right. I'm a Weatherby owner and I'll stand by it all the way Besides, Roy was the first one to go ultra-high velocity. We owe him for setting the bar high.

Two questions: How long is your drag rope? Do you have any trees where you live?

If all you wanna do is ask stupid questions so you can start flaming someone about something you can't comprehend, look elsewhere.
