After christmas,i wanna step up from 243 to a 7mm rem mag for deer huntin.Im lookin at a Rem.700 or a Savage 110,i have a rem 700 in 243,and love the feel of the rifle. The savage is a black synthetic stock, the remington is either camo or black synthetic.I think i'll get a black synthetic either way, which 1 do yall think would be a better gun,(accuracy, dependability)???Either 1 will be topped off with leupold bases and rings, and a leupold vx-3,both come with a cheapo scopes.thanks alot yall

Im used to the trigger on my 700 in 243,it would be a big difference, from a 700 trigger to savage with accutrigger. The price is not an issue, but the remington 700 in 7mm rem mag with a black synthetic stock topped with a bushnell scope is $447.The savage 110 in 7mm rem mag with a black synthetic stock topped with a simmons scope is $397.I'll probably git the rem 700.

It actually didn't take me that long to get used to the accutrigger. I've come to like it, and it's easily adjusted. If you can, I'd try to get away from a package deal and save that money to spend on a better scope. You'll probably end up replacing it for something of higher quality in the future anyways.

I would say that if I were comparing the very basic model of the 700 to the average savage, I would go with the savage.
Why? -- I don't like the finish on the new 700s. It's like that of their express model shotguns. I like them glossy. Easier to care for. Now some guys like that matte-looking finish so the glare doesn't catch the attention of game animals-- I just don't like them; personal preference and experience with rougher finishes. And their triggers these days have a reputation for needing the help of a gunsmith or a confident do-it-yourselfer (but the trigger on my friends new 700 seemed fine...huh...). The savage trigger can be adjusted in seconds by yourself. The barrel is fully free-floated. Not sure if Rem started free-floating as a standard feature... Now, my 700 is an old ADL with a wood stock made in the 1970s. My dad's as a matter of fact. The quality is perfection. The rifle is beautiful. But you have to shell out big bucks these days to get a 700 looking like the way I like them to look. If I had an unlimited budget, my dream rifle would be a model 700 Custom C grade.
These rifles we're comparing are just workhorses of their respectable companies, so although I am confident that either would do a great job and ultimately make you happy, I'm just giving you my opinion.

I don't really like the accutrigger on the savage and I hate the cheap plastic stocks they put on the remmys. Still out of the 2 I would pick the Remington.
