I am thinking of getting into some upland bird hunting and maybe a little duck hunting is there a shotgun that would be good for both right now I have a mossberg 500. What would everyone recommend?

I am looking into doing the same and I have a Sears Model 300 (Winchester 1200 branded by Sears) Would this be an okay gun to use. I mostly want to start with duck hunting.
Anybody that says the 500 wont work for both hasn't done any of either. I started with a single shot 20 ga (no clue what I was 5) after that a 20 ga. mossberg 500 and slowly graduated to an 1100 then an 1187 and now to a benelli SBEII. You can never go wrong with a 500, or as marlin 30/30 said an 870. Start there and see if you ever feel like you want to try something else (kinda like dating )
