Default 11-87 slug barrel question???

I bought a 21 inch smooth bore slug barrel for my 11-87 12 ga. I tried shooting Federal buck shot through it. It shot fine, however the bolt would only come back about half way and wouldn't eject the fired shell. I had to eject them manually.

I guess these barrels are not equipped with the pressure compensation gas system. Does that mean that I can only fire slugs through it? Or is there some type of shot or buck shot that can be fired through it?

I'd like to be able to shoot some type of shot or buck shot through it.

I have a 21" smooth bore barrel on my 11-87. I have the rifled choke in the gun. I have never fired any type of shot through the gun. I do know that these barrels are not intended for light loads and are not equipped with a pressure compensating gas system.
Wish I could be of more help.

Found this online at Hastings Barrel Selection Guide.:
Remington® 11-87™. Barrels have 3" chamber. Fit any 11-87™ 12-ga. receiver. Guranteed to function with all 3" magnum slug loads. May not eject 2 3/4" loads

Not sure why you would be trying to shoot buckshot through a rifled barrel anyway. Your spread shouldnt be able to stay on paper past 10 yards. Get some sabot slugs and shoot them.
