probably is a stupid question but...I'm a soldier currently deployed in Irag, back in the states I went hunting alot but I used my friends guns. I want to be able to get a rifle so I can do some hunting when I go back to the states for leave. Do you have to go to a gun shop to fill out the application to buy a gun. or can it be done over the internet/ and or phone
Assuming you are talking about a long gun (not a handgun), I think in most states it is an "instanateous" thing. They enter your info. and run it when you make the purchase. I've never had a problem other than the few minutes it takes. Of course, you can buy a used gun from a private party with no records checks.
Yeah, its just a page and a half of info and check yes/no boxes and a signature and then they call it in. Takes about 10 minutes unless the store is busy.
