Default shotgun scope suggestions needed

I hope this is the right forum to post this in. I am looking for a new scope for my Remington 870 12 gauge slug gun with rifled barrel. I do not like the scope I have on there now. I am short and have no neck ,so it is hard for me to get a good sight picture through the scope. I have it pulled back on the mounts as far as it will go,still not close enough to my eye without being hunched over the gun. It is even worse when I have my hunting clothes on. I need suggestions on a scope that has a bigger opening to see through(sorry I am not familiar with the proper terms). How about the red dot scopes? I will be making shots out to 100 yards maybe a touch farther. thanks for any suggestions!! Ben

First off you need to cut the stock to fit you better, take off alittle more then you need cause you will wear more clothes in the winter, I do this to all my guns. You may want your local gunsmith help you on the size and the amount to cut.

As far as scopes, you may end up likeing what you have after cutting the stock, but I love the Leupold VX-II in 3-9x40, I have them on all my shotguns and most of my rifles

I have been using the Leupold 2x7 shotgun scope on my Valmet combination shotgun (12 ga and .222) and like it a lot. I only use the gun for turkey hunting.

Thanks for the reply. I had considered cutting my stock, but was thinking of going the different scope route 1st so I wouldn't have to cut the stock.

Might get more consistency out of your shotgun if you cut the stock to fit you better. One less thing to lose accuracy over.
