Simple. Which one do you shoot the best?

Years ago my brother had a .270 with first a Tasco then a Bushnell scope on it...I had a .243 with a Leupold...He wondered why I never used his .270 for hunting...

The scope that is more important than the rifle, most any rifle can shoot well enough for deer but you can't hit what you can't see...

Take the Leupold...

Think about how special it will be when you kill that first deer with your grandfathers rifle.

Well I always liked the beauty of the Ruger #1, but I have a Savage 111 7mm RM that shoots great as well. Remington 770? Don't hear a lot of nice things about it

I think that I would try shooting all of them first and then go with which one is the most comfortable and that you shoot best with. If you cannot do that, then go with your grandads gun. Those Ruger #1's are supposed to be pretty sweet guns to use.

I fully concur.

Then when the season closes trade the Savage and the Remmy 770 for a decent gun. There are a lot of fine used Remington 700s out there and reasonably priced.
