Default Appraising

Buddy of mine has a rifle he would like to get appraised.

It's an older model Winchester 30-30. By old, I'm not sure what he meant.

I didn't know where to send him. Anyone know?

Is there a website that I can look it up on if I get more info?

I picked up a Winchester collectors guide that really helps to get an idea of which grade a rifle falls into to help get an idea of value. I might be able to help you a bit if you got me model and the last few digits of the serial #. There is a site out there that you can run the # through too that will tell you what the year is.

That's what I was looking for. I couldn't find it. Do you know the site? Part of the problem of determining the value is that we have no idea what year it is.

I've used this one before. Can't say how accurate it is, but maybe a start?

I think that the link above is the site that I was trying to remember. If you trust me with the serial # I can get you the year from my book too.

Thanks fellas. I don't have the serial number. But in a couple weeks I can get it. It's my buddies rifle and he sent it out to be re-blued and tuned up. I don't know if that was a good idea since it's very old and might be a collector. But opinions vary on that.

When he gets it back, I'll see if he wants to give out the number.
