Default New Rifle

I just went out and bought myself a Remington 700 SPS Varment in a 22/250. Now I need optics. I did put my 4x12 from my .06 on it though and had some fun. As soon as the winds stop I will see how far I can go with what I have. Anybody have any suggestions for the optics I should use? I dont need anythng cheap but I cant break the bank either. 10X40X50 or like.

Congrats on the new rifle. I'd like to recomend Mueller optics, they make a great product and the price is reasonable. I learned about them on rimfirecentral.com, the optical quality is phenomenal for the price. I have the 4.5-14x40 AO on my .17hmr and I absolutely love it. Do yourself a favor and at least check them out.

I am probally not the best one to reply on this.Mainly because I tend to go overboard on scope magnification. The rifle being a .250 and a varmit rifle,I personally would go with something in the 6x24x50 range.I like my Loopys also.(Vari x III or better)

I put a Zeiss Conquest 4.5x14x44mm on my Kimber 84 Longmastervt in .22-250 (below). It was a great combo. I can consistantly hit 12oz water bottles at 300 yards. Zeiss is high quality but reasonably priced. I have that same scope on all my rifles.

That is all you need, and will last a lifetime.

Good luck.

I would go with a leupold vx3 with the varmint reticle if 4.5x14 if it were mine, but burris and nikon are just as good and a little cheaper. 14 TO 16 powwr at the high end would do you right in either brand though. The nikon monarch is a good scope too but about as expensive as leupold.
