22 Mag Question

I know essentially squat about hand guns. I have 1 revolver and bought another a bud to help her with $$$. I keep it simple for a rason ???

The one I bought is a chambered for 22 Mag. Question, can I shoot 22LR "Rat Shot" in this pistol without causing damage to the fire arm or risking harm to me?

you shouldn't but they make rat shot for the 22 mag, its better anyhow, packs a bigger payload.

Regular 22LR ammo is smaller in diameter than 22 Mag. It should NOT be fired in the magnum chamber, as it might split and let gases out into the action. CCI makesa 22 MAG shot cartridge loaded with 52 grains of #12 shot MV 1000 FPS from a rifle-length barrel. It should work great in a 22 Mag rimfire pistol.

Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for 22 Mag rat shot. Snakes on the move here in SE Alabama !
