remington 597

DO you guys know anything about the remington 597. I was at wally world and saw the mossy ok model nice gun. I have been thinging about getting one for squarrils and maybe rabbits. plus you can find 22lr bullets. what would the max distance for this be with a scope

I have one, its an ok rifle nothing to write home about in the accuracy dept. When I squrriel hunt I usally grab my marlin or ruger bolt 22.

If it was me I'd go with either the Ruger 10/22 or the Marlin 60 for a semi auto. If I wanted a bolt action the Savage is more than likely what I'd get. I've heard some okay things about the Remington but the 10/22 or the Marlin seems to be a much better choice.

Marlin is best of the bunch for semi-autos, I'd put the 597 right at the bottom.
