Default Bedding an HS Precision

Hey guys, I tore my 700p apart to paint the stock and I noticed the recoil lug area gap in the stock is WAY bigger then the lug on the barrel. So I'm thinking I should bed it to close the gap up. What do I need to do differently since it has the metal bedding system already in the stock? Just scuff it up and go over it?

Thx

Heed the advise. The recoil lug area, I suspect, is oversized to allow the stock to expand and contract with heat and moisture and not have the stock crack. Justthe rearsurface of the lug needs to contact the stock uniformly.

There's a pretty big gap on both sides and the bottom...still shooting 1/2" though...
