I doubt anyone has one yet, i keep checking the shortmags.org site waitin on one of those shortmag freaks to get one in and start working up loads. Ive been wandering the same thing. I thought they where suppose to ship after the SHOT show wich was in Febuary?

EDIT: this link has a little information about when they should/might ship. http://shortmags.org/shortmags/forum...=14&thread=610

Why that hard on barrels? They have the ballistics of a 6mm Remington. They just produce it in a shorter cartridge length and action.

i know in the new guns and ammo mag they talk abotu the 243wssm in good detail. if i remmeber right. that one author in april of 2003 took a nice buck with the 223wssm. which i guess they now condone shooting deer with the 223wssm.
what are your opinions on that?

Quilly
As soon as SAAMI pressure tests the 223,243 WSSM' s Olympic arms is producing them in an AR15, I' m gonna get one!
Now the question about the 223 WSSM for deer! there are more than a few .224 bullets designed for deer hunting. the 223 WSSM is factory loaded with win' s 64 gr power point which is well suited for deer size game, I have used a 223 for deer hunting for over 20 years and had great results. shot placement and discepline are the keys!

Quilly on the shortmags sight one of the gun writers on the Arkansas deer hunt where the .223 was field tested posted about his experience with it on the hunt. If you decide to go take a look its in the wssm forumn.

i would not reccomend anyone use the 223 unless thats all youve got and you are very good at shooting it. it falls under the same category as using the 357mag for deer, very good shots at or below the cartridges limits. though i have to say id rather use a 357mag on a deer than a 223. why? because ive done it before and i have confidence in it.

We normally have discussion on wether the .243 is enough gun for deer, and we usually get a 50-50 split on those threads.

The thought of using a .223 for deer is ludicrous.
